What is the best restaurant in Ibiza in 2026?

Monkey Ibiza at sunset

By the owner of Monkey Ibiza & Bambino Ibiza — 5 years on the island, guide written by a restaurateur, not a tourist.

Let me be blunt with you: there isn't one single best restaurant in Ibiza. There is the restaurant that matches what you're looking for that particular evening. And that's precisely what most guidebooks fail to tell you.

After five years of living and working on the island, having opened two restaurants, having eaten in dozens of different places, having accompanied hundreds of clients in their choices of evening — I have learned one thing: Ibiza is not chosen, it is tamed.

"The island either accepts you or it doesn't. It's deeply energetic, almost magnetic. That's actually why I stayed: because I feel aligned with it."

It was this same energy that drove me to open Monkey Ibiza five years ago, and then Bambino Ibiza . I wanted to create a place where elegance, gastronomy, and impeccable service come together in a dreamlike setting, with a real soul. Not restaurants with a facade, not tourist traps. Places where people return.

How to choose the best restaurant in Ibiza: a local's method

When a customer asks me where to eat in Ibiza, I never answer directly. I first ask them a question: what do you want to experience tonight?

A romantic table overlooking the sunset to celebrate a birthday? A relaxed meal with friends before hitting the nightclubs? A gastronomic experience in a discreet, local setting? The answer changes everything. Ibiza isn't just an island; it's a constellation of coexisting worlds.

"My number one tip: have dinner at a nice restaurant with a sunset view, then head to the clubs. It's the perfect Ibiza night out, and the one I recommend to all my clients."

A sunset in Ibiza is an experience in itself. The sky begins to transform long before the sun touches the horizon. Plan to be seated at least 45 minutes beforehand; you'll thank me.

Understanding the gastronomic geography of the island (Ibiza guide 2026):

Ibiza is small, but its atmospheres vary radically from one area to another. Here's how I divide it up when advising my clients:

North of the island — Calm & authenticity

San Juan, Santa Gertrudis, Es Cubells. Unspoiled villages, traditional restaurants run by locals, reasonable prices. Ibiza before mass tourism. Ideal for a relaxed lunch or a quiet dinner away from the hustle and bustle.

South & Its Salt Flats — See & Be Seen

The island's most famous beach clubs. Festive atmosphere, music, attentive service, but often very high prices. The sunset isn't directly visible from this area as it sets on the other side. For those who want the most visually spectacular Ibiza experience.

San Antonio — The Heart of Sunset

This is where the most beautiful sunsets on the island take place, overlooking the open sea. It's a mix of very touristy restaurants and real hidden gems. You have to know where to go, but once you do, it's unbeatable. This is where my two restaurants are located.

Old Town (Dalt Vila) — History & Tapas

Ibiza's old fortified town. Terraces in cobbled streets, a historic atmosphere, affordable tapas restaurants. Less of a sea view, but a unique atmosphere that tourists in a hurry often miss.

My personal selection of restaurants in Ibiza in 2026:

These are restaurants I genuinely recommend — to my clients, my friends, my family. Not partnerships, not visibility exchanges. Places I love.

Monkey Ibiza : My favorite restaurant

San Antonio · Sunset Direct · Bohemian Chic · Mediterranean Cuisine

I mention Monkey Ibiza first not out of narcissism, but because it's precisely the restaurant I wish I'd found when I arrived on the island. A place where elegance isn't taken too seriously, where the service is warm without being stuffy, and where the Mediterranean cuisine is truly delicious—not just beautiful in photos.

The sunset view is spectacular—direct, unobstructed, and front-facing. The decor is inspired by Tulum: bohemian chic, natural materials, and soft lighting. The atmosphere is festive without being noisy. Ideal for birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette parties, weddings, and large gatherings of friends.

One detail I particularly appreciate: at the end of the meal, the team brings a homemade shot—with a touch of sparkle for special occasions. It's a small thing that makes all the difference in the memory you keep of an evening.

Furthermore, starting in June, Monkey Ibiza opens its festive restaurant and is fully booked for much of the season thanks to its themed evenings centered around "the most daring and decadent cabaret of the season." Thursdays feature live DJ sets, themed parties, and special gastronomic events, making each visit a new adventure.

Bambino Ibiza — My restaurant · Premium Italian

San Antonio · Sunset View · Fresh Italian Cuisine

Bambino Ibiza is my Italian restaurant — and without false modesty, I honestly think it's the best Italian restaurant on the island. Not because I created it, but because we made no compromises: fresh products, homemade pasta, top-notch service, magnificent decor.

The sunset view is incredible. This is the place I recommend to couples looking for a romantic evening with real gastronomy — not a picture-postcard setting with mediocre food behind it.

Cala Gracioneta — My absolute favorite

Near San Antonio · Secret beach · Fine dining

My absolute favorite restaurant among those I don't own. Cala Gracioneta is nestled between the rocks and trees, on a small, hidden beach accessible by a discreet path. You don't stumble upon this place by chance —and that's precisely what makes it so charming. The food is excellent from appetizer to dessert, the service is impeccable, and the decor has a truly distinctive visual identity. If you were to try only one restaurant other than my own, this would be it.

Cala d'Hort — For paella and Es Vedrà

Southwest · View of the Es Vedrà rock · Sunset

There are places in Ibiza that are almost mystical. Cala d'Hort is one of them. Opposite you rises Es Vedrà—this volcanic rock that emerges from the sea like a natural cathedral. The sunset here is breathtaking. The paella is excellent: simple, honest, made with quality ingredients. It's not the most elaborate restaurant on the island, but it's one of the most beautiful dining experiences you can have.

Sa Cova — For fish lovers

San Antonio · Seafood Specialist

For seafood lovers, Sa Cova is a sure bet. The food is high-quality and generous—the portions are decent, and the ingredients are fresh. The staff is lovely and always available. No frills, no excessive presentation —just good seafood, well executed.

La Bodega — My antidote to tourist traps

Old Town · Tapas · Accessible

La Bodega is a tapas restaurant in the old town—unconventional, relaxed, inexpensive, and full of character. The food is good, the atmosphere is pleasant, and you won't leave with a hole in your wallet. It's the place I recommend to anyone wanting to discover the real Ibiza, unpretentious and without any fuss.

Shik Shake — The Ibiza before

Fisherman's hut · Ultra-local · Fresh fish

It would be dishonest not to mention Shik Shake. It's a beach shack. Rustic, with no fancy decor or sophisticated menu. But the fish is absolutely fresh —locally caught, simply prepared. It's the place I recommend to anyone who wants to understand what Ibiza was like before it became a global destination.

Petunia & Raco — Great luxury

Premium · Swimming Pool · Gourmet

For those seeking an uncompromising, high-end dining experience, Petunia is a benchmark on the island. Expensive, very expensive—but justified. Raco, on the other hand, is perfect for a relaxing afternoon by the pool with refined cuisine. Both cater to a clientele that knows what it wants and isn't afraid to pay the price.

Must-try dishes at Monkey Ibiza

Our cuisine is Mediterranean, with a focus on sharing. We order several dishes for the table—like upscale tapas. Here's what I highly recommend:

  • Crispy feta  — Our signature vegetarian, light and surprising flavor. Always the first to disappear.
  • Tuna tartare & avocado cream — Fresh, precise, elegant. One of the dishes I get mentioned most in reviews.
  • Homemade guacamole — Jalapeños, tomatoes, onions, crusty bread. Simple and perfect.
  • Crispy chicken with labneh sauce — It melts in your mouth. Our most requested dish by regulars.
  • Lamb shoulder with shirasha sauce — Long, generous, meant for sharing. The dish you order when you want to make an evening special.
  • XXL cookie to share — The dessert that no one leaves without. Not even the table next door who orders one as soon as they see us.
  • Sangria by the liter — Ours has become a local favorite. Order it as soon as you arrive.
Dishes on the table: Beef tartare, squid with parsley and chorizo, and sea bream carpaccio

The mistakes I see every season in Ibiza

In five years, I've seen thousands of tourists make the same mistakes. By avoiding them, you'll have a better evening than 90% of the island's visitors.

  • Choose a restaurant on the waterfront. The most beautiful seafronts are often occupied by mediocre restaurants that rely on their prime location. True quality is often hidden 200 meters from the port.
  • Confusing "expensive" with "good." Ibiza has very expensive restaurants where the food absolutely doesn't justify the price. I know some that cost €150 per person and aren't worth a €40 meal in a northern village.
  • Don't book in advance. In July and August, the best tables for sunset are booked weeks ahead. Arriving without a reservation hoping to find a nice table overlooking the sea is almost always a losing bet.
  • Ignore the north of the island. Most tourists stay in the south or in San Antonio. Some of the best meals on the island are found in the quiet little villages of the north.
  • Arriving too late for sunset. Plan to be seated 45 minutes before the official sunset time — it makes all the difference between seeing the show and missing it.

What time of year is best to visit Ibiza?

This is a question my clients ask me constantly. The answer depends entirely on what you're looking for.

  • May & October — Calm & nature: The island breathes. Fewer people, lower prices, less crowded restaurants. The ideal season for a serene gastronomic getaway, without the pressure of summer.
  • June & September — The perfect balance: Lively without being overwhelming. Pleasant warmth, all restaurants open, a festive atmosphere without the excess of August. My favorite time to take friends.
  • July & August — Total excitement: The island at its peak. Hippie markets, legendary sunsets, encounters with people from all over the world. The festive Monkey Ibiza opens in June to complement this energy.
  • October II — The secret season: Locals return, prices drop, authenticity returns. The season that only connoisseurs know — and jealously guard.

My Ibiza tips for eating well in Ibiza:

  • Ask yourself first what you want to experience — not what you want to eat. The experience takes precedence over the menu.
  • Book early. A sunset table in August at Monkey Ibiza is booked weeks in advance — and that's no exaggeration.
  • Combine different experiences in the same evening: a refined dinner with sunset, followed by clubbing. It's the quintessential Ibiza formula.
  • Trust local recommendations rather than the first pages of TripAdvisor. The best places never advertise.
  • And if you really don't know — just ask us. We know the island, we know the restaurants, and we love for our customers to have a great evening, even if it's somewhere else.

Book a table at Monkey Ibiza

For a sunset dinner, a birthday, a wedding, or a large gathering with friends — the team will take excellent care of you. Reservations are highly recommended in July and August.

FAQ – Best restaurant in Ibiza in 2026: all your questions

Where to eat in Ibiza in 2026?

It all depends on what you're looking for. San Antonio is the best place to dine facing the sunset, and that's where you'll find the best restaurants with direct ocean views.

The north of the island (San Juan, Santa Gertrudis) offers a more local, calm and authentic experience, with cheaper, typical restaurants.

Ibiza's old town Dalt Vila) is ideal for tapas in a historic setting.

My advice: first ask yourself what you want to experience that evening, not just what you want to eat.

What is the best restaurant in Ibiza in 2026?

There isn't one best restaurant in Ibiza; there's only one that suits your evening. For a complete experience combining direct sunset views, quality Mediterranean cuisine, and a bohemian-chic atmosphere, Monkey Ibiza is my top choice. For a romantic dinner with fresh Italian cuisine and sunset views, Bambino Ibiza is a sure bet. For a natural and discreet setting with refined cuisine, Cala Gracioneta is my absolute favorite among the restaurants I don't own.

Do you need to book in advance in Ibiza?

Yes, absolutely, and as early as possible. In July and August, the best tables with sunset views are booked 7 to 14 days in advance. In June and September, plan for a minimum of 3 to 7 days. Arriving without a reservation and hoping to find a nice table overlooking the sea during peak season is almost always a losing bet. At Monkey Ibiza, we're often fully booked several weeks in advance for Thursday and weekend evenings.

How to avoid tourist traps?
Which period should I choose?

June and September offer the perfect balance. All the restaurants are open, the weather remains pleasantly warm, and the atmosphere is festive without the intensity of summer. In my opinion, these are the best months to discover Ibiza.

Is this guide to the best restaurants in Ibiza 2026 reliable?

Yes. This guide is written by the owner of Monkey Ibiza and Bambino Ibiza, two establishments that have been located in San Antonio for over five years.
The recommendations are based on real-world experience, not on partnerships or visibility exchanges.

The addresses mentioned are those I recommend to my friends and clients, including competing restaurants that I sincerely respect for the quality of their work.

Which restaurant should I choose for a birthday or event in Ibiza?

For a birthday, wedding, stag/hen party, or any major celebration, Monkey Ibiza is designed to create unforgettable moments.
We regularly host groups for memorable evenings in an atmosphere that is both festive and elegant.

One detail that makes all the difference: at the end of the meal, our team offers a homemade shot with sparkling wine to celebrate special occasions.

From June onwards, the restaurant takes on an even more festive dimension with themed evenings, DJ sets and gastronomic events every week, to extend the experience well beyond dinner.

What time should I have dinner to see the sunset?

Plan to arrive at your table  at least 45 minutes before the official sunset. The sky begins to change well before the sun touches the sea, and the first orange hues often appear an hour beforehand. In August, the sun sets between 9:00 and 9:30 PM in Ibiza, so book a table for 8:15-8:30 PM to enjoy the full spectacle.
